Kerala Hindu Society celebrates Ramayana recital at Craigieburn

Melbourne: The Kerala Hindu Society Melbourne (KHSM) celebrated the final day of Ramayana recitation this month at Newbury Child and Community Centre, Craigieburn. More than 50 families participated in the event. The uninterrupted recital of the Hindu epic is a tradition that is followed by Hindus all over the world.
For centuries, it has been a practice for Keralites to recite Thunchathu Ezhuthachan’s ‘Adhyatma Ramayanam’ each day throughout the month of Karkidakam.
It was a matter of pride to become an established reciter. However, as time passes, the culture has started fading out, but Melbourne’s Kerala society is keeping the tradition alive.
