For the first time, the Uttaranchal Society of Melbourne recently organised a cultural night called Uttarakhand Sangeet Sandhya where renowned folk singers such as Narendra Sigh Negi, Meena Rana, Pritam Bhartwan and Prakash Kahala enthralled the audience. Held at the Heritage Reception Centre, Epping, the evening also saw renditions of Garhwali and Kumoni songs.
The Uttranchal Society of Australia is a not-to-profit organisation which is formed by members orignially belonging or having family roots to Uttranchal region in India. Uttaranchal Society of Australia aims to deliver its objectives through a fully defined constitution and fully functional committee of members’ structure. Society members meet once a month to discuss current and future activities and direction. (TIW)
