Melbourne: The Northern Region Indian Senior’s Association (Vic.) Inc held its Project Inspire Nepal programme at Northcote on June 21. The fundraising afternoon saw a lot of entertainment and participation from members and guests.
In his welcome address, NRISA president Nalin Sharda spoke about the organisation’s Project Inspire Nepal programme, what has been done and what needs to be done further. “After living a good life in India, Australia, and around the world, many seniors want to devote their resources and efforts to higher causes. And there is no higher cause than to serve others; especially those who are less fortunate than us.” The Inspire Nepal Programme is a part of this initiative.
Among the chief guests was Chandra Yonzon, the Consul General of Nepal, Victoria.
Kanka Sivaraman a passionate dancer, while being a mother of two, presented a traditional dance number. Members of the group called “Melbourne Bhangra Regiment”, which was established in 2012, also showcased their performance.
