book launch - Copy webHistorians Len Kenna and Crystal Jordan launched Volumes 2-5, the next four books in the series titled: Are Indians an Ethnic Minority? at the Consulate General of India office in Melbourne on July 5.
The books were officially released by Biren Nanda, High Commissioner of India, in front of an audience of over 120 invited guests including politicians, government officials and Indian organisations. Nanda said, “These volumes will be enriching for the Indian diaspora.”
“Speaking at the launch, Kenna said, “These books can effectively argue that Indians are not an ethnic minority because they were equally responsible for Australia’s settlement as they came here very early,” adding, “These books are also an attempt to recognise the contribution and role of the Indian community in establishing Australia as a nation.”
The preparation and publication of the books were the result of many years of work by Crystal Jordan and Len Kenna assisted by Rajinder Singh Minhas, and Baljinder Singh Nanda. All those present were astounded by the quantity and quality of the history of Indians in Victoria and Australia.
A photographic exhibition prepared by Crystal Jordan was also on display at the launch.
